I Just Want to Get Skinny Again (Real Talk From a Tired Mom)

I’m just going to say it: I really want to get skinny again. I want to wear those jeans I used to wear before I had kids. Not maternity leggings or flowy shirts I wear to hide the post-pregnancy belly. After two pregnancies, my body has changed a bit. I mean.. I knew it would happen, but I underestimated how hard it would be to get back into shape [again].
I look back at photos from 6 years ago and I looked the best I EVER looked. Now, I catch myself constantly thinking about losing the baby weight, getting abs, and feeling lighter and stronger. But I’m also juggling motherhood, working on my business, cleaning, and trying to find five seconds to eat something. It’s not easy. In fact, some days, it feels impossible.

What makes it even harder is the pressure to “bounce back” that seems to be everywhere online. I’m not saying I’m not comfortable in my body. I love that my body carried two beautiful baby boys. I just want to get skinny again. I don’t want a quick fix—I want to build habits that actually last. In fact, I can’t stand when people find shortcuts to weight loss. I live for those endorphins and the adrenaline rush you get when you have a strenuous but fun workout ahead of you. Running on the treadmill while listening to music is extremely therapeutic and relaxing— I couldn’t give that up for some ridiculous pill. I want to feel strong, energized, and confident again, even if that means the process takes a little longer. I’m tired of being tired.

So here I am, starting over. Again. I’ve promised myself that this time, it’s not about some strict diet or insane workout routine I can’t keep up with. It’s about being honest with myself and doing small things that make me feel better—like moving my body, drinking water, and not stress-eating snacks in the pantry at 10 p.m. I want to feel like the best version of me, not just for photos or social media, but for my own peace of mind.
So…sigh… here I am at square one again and really try ing to shed some pounds before beach season approaches. If you’re a mom reading this and you’re in the same place— know you’re not alone. Getting fit after pregnancy is hard. Losing baby weight is hard. But that doesn’t mean it’s impossible. I’m showing up for myself now, one small step at a time.
