How I Get Ready Each Morning (Spoiler: I Don’t Do Much)

July 3, 2025

I’ll be honest. My morning routine is nothing fancy. I’m not into makeup. Never have been. And honestly, I think that’s probably why my skin’s been doing alright all these years. I don’t mess with it too much. No foundation, no highlighter, no drama. Just me and my trusty bottle of Nivea Essentially Enriched Lotion. That’s it.

Most mornings, I’ve got maybe 15 minutes to myself (if I’m lucky). Between a baby who’s up before the sun and a toddler who has something new to say every 3 seconds, I’m already running on borrowed time. But those 15 minutes? I make them count.

Quick shower, in and out. I don’t overthink it. Then while my skin’s still damp, I lather on my Nivea. That stuff is thick but smooth, and it makes my skin feel soft and look alive, even if I only slept four hours. It’s the only lotion I consistently buy. No switching it up, no experimenting. I know it works, and I stick with it.

After that, I throw my hair into a top knot, put on a pair of earrings.. instant upgrade. And boom, I’m done. That’s the whole routine. No makeup chair, no fancy skincare steps, no time-consuming process. Just clean, moisturized, and ready to face the madness (or at least pretend I am).

Some mornings I throw on a cute top. Other mornings, it’s a sweatshirt and leggings and we keep it moving. I’m not out here trying to impress anybody.. I just want to feel like I at least tried to start my day on the right foot.

And honestly, keeping it simple keeps me sane. I don’t have time to watch makeup tutorials or test out a new blush palette every week. I’ve got a lot going on, and my priority is feeling good in my own skin without all the extra work.

So no, I don’t have a beauty drawer. I don’t own five different cleansers. But I’ve got Nivea, a hair tie, and my little morning routine that gets me feeling like myself again.. even if it’s just for a few minutes.
